Top 5 Blog Directories On The Internet
Aside from this site, let us look at other places on the net, where we can search for bloggers. You have your choice of blog directories, blog engines, blog top lists, and blog social networking sites.
Each resource below has its own set of features, plus pros and cons. But they all are free to use, free to add your own blog to (if you have one), with most being super easy to navigate. Search functionality varies, with some getting an A+, and others scoring a presidential C+. Hit the jump for more.
Top 5 Blog Directories On The Web
1.) Blog Catalog - This is the #1 social networking site for bloggers. It houses a blog directory, a blog discussion forum, and each member gets their own profile page. With the profile page, bloggers add theirĀ blog URL, blog RSS URL, and blog avatar. A+
This blog directory has excellent search features, you can search for bloggers by keyword or category.
2.) Blog Flux - This is a high PR blog directory that has lots of solid blogs listed. It is free, and is run by an established set of programmers. A
Great for finding a variety of blogs.
3.) My Blog Log - This is probably the most well known of the major blog directories, as it came out first. Many major bloggers including (problogger) Darren Rowse use the popular MyBlogLog widget, which keeps track of visitors, via a small avatar. You can search for bloggers here, via the members tab, but it is not super relevant. C-
When i search for Darren Rowse, it brings up a slew of profiles. The (mybloglog) search function needs major tweaking.
4.) Google Blog Search - As the name suggests, this is the Google blog engine. It is really neat, i use it daily to search for stories, news, blogger events, and all sort of TIMELY articles. This blog engine gets updated at the speed of blogs, which is well…….fast. A+
If you are looking for a popular story, and want to see what the blog o sphere is saying it about it, go here first.
5.) Technorati - This is another blog search engine, and it is very useful in finding bloggers and blogs. I don’t particularly like their interface, it seems abit garbled and mangled up. Still useful, just not pretty. C+
Lacks major focus.
Yes, you can always go to Google or Yahoo for finding bloggers, but you will have faster more timely results, using the above mentioned sites and resources.
Which of the above are you familiar with, and which (if any) is your favorite resource for finding bloggers? Tell us below.

I’m a huge fan of BlogCatalog, not only because it’s such an active blog community, but also the folks who run it are great people. They been huge supporters of ours, as well.
